Dear David,
     I've been feeling very bad these days because I failed another English test. I tried my best, but I still
couldn't get good grades. It's hard for me to memorize English words and I have a lot of difficulties with
the grammar. Since I am a little shy, I am afraid of speaking English in class. I know studying English well
is very important, so I don't want to stop studying it. How do you study English? Can you give me some
advice?

     I'm glad to help you. As for how to study English, here is my advice. First, I think you should do more
listening exercises. You can learn new words and sentences by listening to tapes, the radio or watching
English movies. Second, you should do more speaking practice. You can join an English club. You just
need more practice. As for grammar, I study it by reading. You can read textbooks, English stories,
magazines and newspapers. After reading them, don't forget to take notes and then make your own
sentences. That helps a lot. Remember that the best way to learn English is to use it. I hope my advice
