There are many wetlands (濕地) in China and some of them have become the world's important wetlands.

The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are among them. They are in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province. They are home for many different kinds of birds and animals. The world's largest Milu Deer Nature Reserve (自然保護區(qū)) is in them. More than 700 Milu deer live freely there. There are not many red-Crowned cranes in the world, but every winter you can see some in the red-Crowned Nature Reserve in the Yellow Sea Wetlands.

The temperature in the wetlands is usually neither too high nor too low. There is a lot of rain and sunshine, too. They are really good places for wildlife (野生動物). Offering food and home for some special kinds of animals and birds is not the only reason why we need to protect wetlands. Wetlands are important because they also prevent flood. But some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife.

Luckily, more and more people are beginning to realize the importance of wetlands and wildlife. Every year, on February 2nd, many activities are held to tell people more about wetlands.

1.The Chinese Yellow Sea Wetlands are in the west of China.

2.Usually the weather in the wetlands is pleasant.

3.February 2nd is the world's wetlands Day.

4.We must protect wetlands only because they can offer food to the animals and birds.

5.Wetlands are valuable resources of land on the earth.

These days, many Chinese people are happy about a piece of news. What is it? China may become the second largest economy (經(jīng)濟體) in the world. It’s only behind the US.
But is China the second richest country, too?
No. The economy is like a cake. The US, Japan and China each makes one. China makes the second biggest cake. But lots of people have to eat it. Why? There are 1.3 billion people in China. And there are only 300 million people in the US and 127 million in Japan. So, in China, each person only gets a very, very small piece of cake. But people in the US and Japan have bigger pieces.
China is not as rich as the US and Japan. For example, in the US, in every 100 people, 75 can surf the Internet; in Japan it is 74 in 100. But in China, only 26 people in 100 use the Internet.

Singles Day (光棍節(jié))falls on every November 11th, and as the name suggests, this holiday is one specially for people who are still living the single life. It’s surprising that China is the only country in the world that has set up a special day for singles to celebrate(慶祝) their lives. To find out more about this celebration, read on.
An old story goes that once there were four single men, leading very boring lives. None of them were married, or had lovers, or did anything exciting. They just sat around all day and played Mahjong(麻將).
One day they played Mahjong from 11 in the morning until 11 at night. During the game, no matter who won, the winning card was always the 'Sitiao' card. And that day happened to be November 11th. In order to remember the day, they called it Singles Day.
For breakfast on Singles Day, singles often eat four youtiao, which means the four "ones" in "11.11". Many singles also choose to say goodbye to their single lives on this day. So they take part in 'blind date' parties , trying to find someone they love and many people choose to marry on this day. Besides the meaning 'single', the four 'ones' of the date can also mean 'only one' as in 'the only one for me.'
